Does Evil Exist?

I did not write this [it can be found on many cites throughout the internet]. But it's so darn good it begs  itself to be posted! Many of you may have already herd this.
A university professor challenged his students with this question.
"Did God create everything that exists?"
     A student bravely replied:
“Yes, he did!”
“God created everything?”
     The professor asked:
“Yes, sir.” the student replied.
     The professor answered:

“If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil.”
The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said:
“Can I ask you a question professor?”
“Of course”
The student stood up and asked, “Professor, does cold exist?”
“What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?”
The students snickered at the young man’s question.
     The young man replied:
“In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody and every object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have too little heat."
The student continued.
“Professor, does darkness exist?”
 “Of course it does."
     The student replied:
“Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton’s prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn’t this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present.”
Finally the young man asked the professor:
“Sir, does evil exist?”
     Now uncertain, the professor responded:
“Of course, as I have already said! We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.”
     To this the student replied:
“Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness or cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love, that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.”
     The professor sat down.

Can You Hear Me Now?

In a world with so many voices trying to infuence me, how do i know which one to listen to?
[Yeah thats right, i just threw down a thesis statement!]

That's a serious question for alot of people. It can be hard to listen to that one voice telling you to do the right thing, when there's a ton of other voices telling you to do the wrong thing. Let us turn to the worlds most well-knows answer book for a little clarity on this subject: The Bible.
So the Book of Revelation gives us the answer as to why there's so many influences on us:

"And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth...
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him..."

From this scripture [and others like unto it] we learn that there was a war in heaven before earth was even made. Where Lucifer [Satan], in attempt to overthrow God, led 1/3 of all our spirit brothers and sisters and revolted against the plan that was presented. Well this didn't turn out to well for 'ol Luci. He and all his followers we cast out, never to receive bodies. Needless to say they were quite vexed. So now all they do is float around earth trying to get us to mess up so we'll be as miserable as they are.
Now I'm no mathematician [I'm not even a little good at math], but we're gonna make a rough estimate as to just how many spirits were cast out, so we know how many bad guys we're dealing with here. Google tells us that there is roughly 7 billion people on the earth today. The 1/3 includes all the people who have ever lived and will live too, so I'm gonna make a bold assertion and say that the full number of spirits is 568 billion [give or take a couple three bill.]. 1/3 of that is 189 billion evil spirits constantly hanging around Earth. Now there's if there's only 7 billion people on earth right now, we're pretty our numbered. In fact we're outnumbered 27 to 1. [Thanks Texas instruments ;D]
But there is hope! Although you may have 27 bad guys ganging up on you, all you need is one sidekick to defeat them all. His name is "The Holy Ghost".
"So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*"
~Lloyd Christmas
He's the the one good voice we try so hard to listen to and follow. He's the one all the other voices are trying to drown out. He's the one who is gonna win when the end comes, following his guidance drafts us on his team. The Holy Ghost will always prompt us to do good and follow Cod's commandments. And I know that that is how we are suppose to live our lives. Listening to the bad guys may make us happy for a little, but no more than that. Listening to the good guys makes us happy now, and forever [Mosiah 2:41]. The End.
